Boydell is Named Honorable Mention All-NWC after Averaging 18.7 Points

Willamette University forward Jack Boydell (Sr., Sonoma, CA/Sonoma Valley HS) has been chosen Honorable Mention All-Northwest Conference in men's basketball for his efforts throughout the 2022-23 season as voted on by the NWC head coaches. Boydell averaged 18.7 points per game to rank second in the NWC. He also registered 5.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 0.9 steals per game. Boydell led the Bearcats with 448 points and 122 rebounds while playing in all 24 games with 22 starts.

A total of 18 players were selected for the 2022-23 All-NWC Men's Basketball Team. The First Team included six players, with five players chosen for the Second Team, and seven players earning Honorable Mention.

Whitman College junior forward Xzavier Lino was named NWC Men's Basketball Player of the Year. Dezman Baker, a first-year guard at the University of Puget Sound, was chosen NWC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Year. Whitman Head Coach John Lamanna was selected NWC Men's Basketball Coach of the Year.

Willamette completed the 2022-23 season with a 5-19 record, including 1-15 in the NWC. The Bearcats ranked second in the NWC in scoring offense with 80.5 points per game and tied for first with 10.1 three-pointers made per game.

Honorable Mention All-Northwest Conference

Jack Boydell (Sr., F) was Willamette's top scorer with his 18.7 points per game. His 5.1 rebounds per game led all Bearcats who played in at least 18 contests. He shot 50.3% on field goals (153 of 304), connected on 40.4% of his 3-point shots (57 of 141), and sank 87.6% of his free throw attempts (85 of 97).

Boydell scored in double figures in 21 of 24 games and produced 20 or more points 11 times. During one stretch of the season he reached double figures in 14 consecutive games, including 23 games in a row with at least 17 points. He scored a career-high 34 points at Multnomah University (Ore.) on Nov. 15, 2022.

During his career, Boydell has scored 1,070 points while earning 322 rebounds, 147 assists, 71 steals, and 18 blocked shots. He has shot 82.2% at the free throw line, hitting 152 of 185 attempts.

Boydell is completing a double major in Economics and Data Science. He is participating in Willamette's 3+2 BA/MBA program, and plans to compete in basketball next season while completing his MBA degree.

"I'm very happy for JB to have earned this honor," Willamette Head Coach Kip Ioane said. "He has put in the hours of work necessary to perform at a high level and I'm glad the conference coaches recognized that."
