RV Corban Men’s Wrestling Hands NCAA DIII Linfield Near Shutout in Warriors’ Senior Night Dual

In the RV Corban Men's Wrestling team's final home dual meet of the 2022-23 season, the Warriors sent four senior student-athletes out in style with a dominate 48-3 dual victory over the NCAA DIII Linfield University Wildcats.

"What a showing by our guys tonight!" Corban Interim Head Coach Kary Hadden said following his seniors' final home dual meet. "They took control early and never hesitated to take chances against their matchups. Three pins and a pair of technical falls are a great way to send off these seniors!"

Prior to the beginning of the dual, the Corban Men's Wrestling program recognized their four senior wrestlers, Yasyf Sorensen, Tyler Moore, Matthew Bartlett, and Michael Murphy for their success and dedication to their university and their teammates. Between the four of them, the Warriors' seniors hold over 70 combined dual matchup victories, dating back to the inaugural Corban Men's Wrestling season in 2019.

With forfeit match victories for the Warriors in the 125 and 157 weight classes, freshman Bo Davis was the first to take to the mats for the Warriors, looking to improve upon his incredible 17-4 record in his first year with the program. With ease, Davis earned a major decision win over Linfield's Kellen Hanson, 8-0.

The next Corban freshman phenom, Luke Jensen, earned the first of two technical falls for the Warriors with the 141-weight class speedy 18-0 victory in 2:32 over Wildcats' Jacob Jarvis. This gave Jensen his 17th head-to-head victory on the year, tying Davis for third on the team.

Murphy, the lone senior to take to the mats tonight on Senior Day, also nabbed the first takedown of the evening for the Warriors, pinning Linfield's Joshue Cox in an almost immediate 1:20 fall. Following the second Linfield forfeit, freshman Austin Mattson took the 165-weight class with another pin for Corban, downing Wildcats' Jack Barrett in 2:35 to put the Warriors up 33-0.

Redshirt sophomore David Rubio, the NAIA No. 4 wrestler for the 165 class, wrestled up for the second-straight dual to earn a 13-3 major decision over Linfield's Price Pothier. The following bout in the 184-weight class, redshirt freshman German Munoz threw down the final takedown of the night for Corban with a 4:47 pin of Wildcats' Lucien Lefebvre.

The Warriors' final weight class victory of the evening came next, as the No. 21 wrestler in the NAIA for the 197s, Warriors' Tyson Stover, racked up the points looking for a pin but settled for a technical fall, 25-9 in 4:39, of Linfield's Darrius Walker.

The Wildcats staved off the sweep and shutout in the final matchup of the evening, as Jacob Barnes was able to flip Corban's Sven Lukner in the 285-weight class for just long enough and staved off multiple attempts at a reversal to earn an 8-1 decision.
