Clayton Messerle | Director of Athletic Communications
Corban University director of athletics Marty Ziesemer announced on Wednesday that Corban has tabbed Clayton Messerle to be the next director of athletic communications for Warrior athletics. Messerle—who currently serves as the sports information director at Warner Pacific University—will assume his duties on July 13, 2022.
Ziesemer commented, "I look forward to working with Clayton and collaborating with him. In my conversations with him, I have found that he will be innovative and visionary and continue the high level of professionalism excellence that Corban is known for in communications and sports information."
Messerle joined the Warner Pacific athletic department in the summer of 2021 as the new Sports Information Director after holding multiple athletic department positions as a student at Oregon State University and Southwestern Oregon Community College. Before transitioning to Warner Pacific, he had spent the previous three years in different marketing & team management roles with two other organizations.
As a freshman at Southwestern Oregon Community College, the Coos Bay native served as the lead statistician for the athletic department, recording and distributing home & away stats for the volleyball, basketball, soccer, baseball, and softball teams, thus beginning his love for game management and athletic administration.
Before moving to Salem in 2019, Messerle spent his previous four years just 45 minutes south in Corvallis, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Oregon State University, as well as a Minor in Business Administration. During his time there, Clayton held multiple student internships and responsibilities within the Oregon State Athletics Department, ranging from marketing, social media, graphic design, team management, and even embodying OSU's very own Benny the Beaver.
"I'm extremely humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve Corban University as the next Director of Athletic Communications. Corban has had a long-standing success within the SID department, highlighted by the amazing work of Jarett, Kasie, Danny, and many others who have brought the spotlight to the Warrior student-athletes," Messerle commented. "To be able to follow in their footsteps is an incredible achievement, and I look forward to serving God, my fellow staff, and my student-athletes with the same grace, quality of work, and support that those before me have succeeded in doing. I can't wait to get started, and I look forward to working alongside Marty as we help lead the next generation of Christian student-athletes at Corban University, Go Warriors!"
Messerle and his wife Taylor (formerly Taylor Eilders an alumna of Corban and NAIA All-American outfielder) reside in south Salem and enjoy spending time with their families, traveling the Pacific Northwest, and engaging in recreational athletics in their leisure time.
Messerle will transition into his new role with the Warriors in mid-July.
