No. 3-ranked T-Birds in the Lead after Day One at Corban Spring Invite

21

The Corban University women's golf team played host to the rest of the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) on Monday, competing in round one of the Corban Spring Invite at Creekside Golf Club. After 18 holes of play, No. 3-ranked University of British Columbia holds the team lead by 23 strokes, propelled by five golfers in the top-five after round one.

DAY-ONE RESULTS

The T-Birds' Elizabeth Labbe leads the field individually after firing a 74 (+2) in round one, trailed closely by her teammates Esther Lee and Sonja Tang, who each sit a stroke back after shooting a 75 (+3) on Monday.

NCAA Division II Northwest Nazarene is in second place after day one, and No. 23-ranked Oregon Tech is in third heading into the final round on Tuesday.

The conditions for Monday's action were less than ideal, as showers were an on-and-off factor throughout the day, and players had to battle through extended periods of sleet in the morning, as well.

Corban currently sits in a tie for fourth with (RV) Lewis-Clark State College, as the two teams look to continue their back-and-forth battles throughout the 2021-22 campaign. Both Warriors squads shot a 338 team tally on day one.

The Navy and Gold was led by Delainey Rez, who sits in 10th on the leaderboard with her round-one 80 (+8). Rez got off to a bit of a slow start with the inclement weather, but a pivotal birdie on hole 17—setup by a tee-box shot that landed within 10 feet of the cup—helped her get hot on the second half of her round.

Right behind her in 11th is Kristin Senatra, who shot an 81 (+9) on Monday. Just two strokes back of Senatra is Kelly Dunn, who wrapped up her round with an 11-over 83 to enter tomorrow's action in a tie for 14th.

Haley May (22-over 94, T-31st) and Haley Elsasser (37-over 109, 38th) comprised the remainder of Corban's top-five, while Samantha Massie sits in 34th after day one (27-over 99) while competing as an individual.

The eight teams will finish out the tournament tomorrow, with round two of the competition shotgun starting at 8 a.m.
