Malheur County ranked 36th among counties in Oregon by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau in August.

The median income of Malheur County residents was an inflation-adjusted $19,988 per year. Malheur County had 10,262 households in 2017, with a population of 30,421.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Clackamas County. Clackamas County's median income was $34,855 per year after adjusting for inflation – $14,867 more than Malheur County. It had 153,822 households in 2017 and a population of 399,962.
