Rep. Dwayne Yunker, a member of the Oregon House of Representatives, posted a series of critical statements about Christine Drazan on his Twitter account between May 14 and May 15, 2026.

On May 14, Rep. Yunker criticized Drazan’s fiscal decisions, stating: “Drazan’s bad decisions always seem to cost taxpayers. She voted to use taxpayer dollars to help a billionaire with the Moda Center, and even former Blazer Chris Dudley disagreed with the vote. When regular Oregonians are struggling with rent, groceries, gas, and taxes, Drazan”.

The following day, he questioned her conservative credentials by referencing her Freedom Index score: “Christine Drazan’s Freedom Index score says it all: F. That is not a conservative record. That is a Salem record. When the votes are counted, Drazan’s record looks closer to Democrats than the taxpayers she claims to defend. More spending. More government. More costs passed”.

Later on May 15, Rep. Yunker commented on political dynamics within Oregon’s Republican Party: “Kotek has been handing Christine Drazan defeats for years and now Drazan wants Republicans to believe she’s the one who can beat Kotek in November? Drazan led Republicans back, gave Democrats the quorum, and Oregon got Kotek’s congressional map. Losing!!”.

Christine Drazan previously served as Minority Leader in the Oregon House of Representatives and was her party’s nominee for governor in 2022. The Moda Center referenced by Rep. Yunker is an arena in Portland that has received public funding in past legislative sessions for improvements or operations involving private ownership groups.

The Freedom Index mentioned by Rep. Yunker is often used by advocacy organizations to rate lawmakers based on their voting records regarding issues such as taxation and government spending.

Tina Kotek currently serves as Governor of Oregon after winning election in 2022; redistricting following census data resulted in new congressional maps that have been sources of partisan debate within the state legislature.
